Henri Coandă Airport (OTP) is in Otopeni, about 17 km north of the centre. There are three easy ways into town: a ridesharing app, the train to Gara de Nord or the express bus 100. All of them take cards.
Your options
RidesharingDoor to doorthe easiest option with luggage
Book in an app such as Bolt or Uber. The price is shown upfront and paid in the app.
To the centre it usually costs around 50–100 lei, more at busy times.
Allow 30–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
For now, pick-ups are at Departures, not Arrivals. See the map below.
Train~25 minto Gara de Nord
Direct, with no stops on the way. The platform is next to the terminal.
Two companies run the line: Transferoviar (6.50 lei) and CFR Călători (11 lei). A ticket is valid only on the company that sold it.
Pay by card on board, or buy online or from the machines.
Trains leave every 30–40 minutes. At Gara de Nord, change to metro M1 or M4.
Express bus 100To Piața Uniriiruns day and night
Stops near the centre and the Old Town. Pay with a contactless card or phone on board.
For now it stops only at Departures, not at Arrivals.
Allow 40–60 minutes, more in rush hour.
TaxiFrom the rankin front of Arrivals
Order a car from the touchscreens in the Arrivals hall and take only the car you're given.
A ridesharing app is usually simpler: the price is fixed and there's no language barrier.
Where to meet your ridesharing car
Temporary changeBecause of the metro works and the rebuilding of the Arrivals car park, ridesharing pick-ups have moved to the car park in front of the Departures terminal. The works are expected to last until early 2027.
From Arrivals, walk to the Departures terminal next door.
Cross the road in front of Departures into the car park.
Walk to the far side of the car park, along the road. The pick-up point is marked there, and your app shows the exact spot.
